Broken Key Extraction
Broken key stuck in a lock? We extract the broken piece without damaging the lock and make you a new key on-site.
Snapping a key off inside a lock feels catastrophic — but it's one of the easiest jobs we do, as long as no one's tried to dig it out first. We use purpose-built extractor tools (thin tempered steel hooks) that catch the broken piece without scratching the cylinder. Most extractions take 5-15 minutes.
The single biggest factor in cost is whether anyone tried DIY first. Untouched broken keys come out clean and the lock works perfectly afterward. Locks where someone forced the broken half deeper, glued the pieces together, or sprayed WD-40 inside often need full cylinder replacement — and that doubles the bill.

Common scenarios
Real situations we get called for — and what they typically cost.
Key broke in front door deadbolt
Most common scenario. Extraction in 10 minutes, new key cut in 5 more. $95 total and the lock works exactly like before.
Key snapped in car ignition
Higher stakes — wrong move can mean $400+ ignition replacement. Don't try the other half of the key. Call us first. Total cost typically $245 (extraction + new transponder key).
Key worn so thin it broke
Warning sign: if your key has been hard to turn for months, it's been wearing. After we extract, we recommend cutting a fresh key from your lock or VIN — fixes the underlying problem.
