Lock Installation & Replacement
New lock installation or replacement of existing locks. We supply or you supply the hardware.
Replacing a worn-out lock, upgrading to a higher-security model, or adding locks to a new door? We install and supply Schlage, Yale, Kwikset, Defiant, Master Lock, plus higher-security Medeco and Mul-T-Lock — typically 30 to 60 minutes per door.
Most residential install jobs include 3-inch security screws in the strike plate (vs the 1-inch screws that come with most locks) — a free upgrade that dramatically improves kick-in resistance. We also check that the strike plate fits properly and the door closes squarely.

Common scenarios
Real situations we get called for — and what they typically cost.
Replacing builder-grade locks after moving in
Most new builds come with Grade 3 locks (lowest security). Upgrading the front door to Grade 2 is the highest-ROI security move. ~$145 installed.
Worn-out lock won't turn smoothly
Lubricating doesn't help if internals are worn. Replace the whole lock — $85-145 installed. Often faster than ordering parts.
Adding deadbolt to door that doesn't have one
Many older Charlotte homes have only a knob lock on the back door. We drill the hole and install a Grade 2 deadbolt for $190.
